Furniture Magnate’s Mega-Mansion



Jim Ingvale, the founder of Gallery Furniture in Houston, and his wife are building a $10 million mansion on Lake Travis. The home, which is in the Lago Vista area, will have 26,000 square feet of living space in the main house alone. There will also be a 6,000 square foot, 10 bedroom guest house on the property. The Italianate-style home will feature marble columns and window castings.

    Mattress Mac is Jims nickname. He is a cool guy he actually works the floor at Gallery Furniture.

    He often comes to the University of Houston to guest speak at lectures in the Bauer business school. He used to live in Northgate Forest in northwest Houston.

    His daughters were banned from their high school prom for drinking alcohol so on the day of the prom held their own dance as retaliation.
